ACTIVITIES

Away from laptops and textbooks, I am also active taking parts in out-going activities. During my educational period, I had joined some architectural-relevant activities such as annual architectural workshops and community projects.

Project #Kaktao / Corner 46 (community project)

It is a great honour to work with well-known architects like Mr. Ng Seksan and Prof. Ar. Huang Sheng Yuan from Taiwan. In groups, we did our design proposal progressively, involved site measurement, layout plan, material selection, site meeting and presentation together with our lecturer, Asst. Prof. Mr. Teoh Chee Keong.

Corner 46 is an ongoing field school project. Located at Seberang Kuala Sepetang, Project #kaktao involves converting a double storey timber shop house into a field school for the locals kids and adult. The name #kaktao came from the site being a corner unit and the number 46 is the lot number of the site where many exciting events and happenings will be hosted here. Featuring spaces include an exhibition area, a library for the local kids to have their learning sessions and activities, and also a hands-on architecture workshop for UCSI and CYCU students. more

Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (conservation project)

Urban study along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Haji Taib whether they meet the development PSKL Vision (Rancangan Struktur Pelan Contents Kuala Lumpur / Kuala Lumpur) 2020 in order to make Kuala Lumpur a world-class city center. It is a heritage urban studies research programme structured by the government (DBKL) which is then appointed to RDA Harris Architect Sdn. Bhd. in collaboration with Universiti Malaya.

Me along with three other students from UCSI had joined the research team together with UM Master students for this project. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Yahaya, we did survey on selected buildings along Jalan TAR and also interview the owners. We also helped out to produce a report based on our survey and research.

Dualisma 26th Architectural Workshop at UM

The first and only time I am representing UCSI University to join booth installation competition in a team. I am lucky to have hardworking and enthusiastic team mates and together we won the second prize in this competition.

This year, the annual Architectural Workshop was held at Universiti Malaya. The theme this year was Dualisma, and was described as contrast of two elements. The design of the booth derived from the constrast between visible and invisible. We proposed the booth as a charity booth or donation booth, to help in fund raising to the invisible. To create the architectural elements of solid and void, we are critical with the material selection of having timber to represent solid, while wire to represent void.

PADI 25th Architectural Workshop at UPM

During my third year of my Diploma in Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT), I finally get the chance to explore the national jamboree for architecture students. Held at Universiti Putra Malaysia, theme of this workshop is Passive Active Design Innovation (PADI).

In a number of 20, we are from a mix of Diploma and Degree students from different course in LUCT.  We were divided into two teams - performance and installation team but I personally took part in both due to the outnumbered. However, it is a very good experience for me to get to know other universities' standard and their works. Also, it is a good chance for us to enhance our team building and leadership skills.
